Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Iquitos

  • Flight morning or at noon to Iquitos.
  • Reception at the airport and transfer to the city for lunch at The Inn, with a view to the tropical jungle.
  • Check-in at the hotel and free time to organize.
  • Walking tour through the historic center of Iquitos.
  • Free dinner with recommendations of the guide.

Day 2: Exploration of Iquitos and the surrounding area

  • Breakfast and transfer to the port of Nanay, visit to a local market.
  • Stop at the Bridge Golden Gates of the Amazon, impressive structure 2.3 km
  • Boat trip to Padre Cocha, visit the butterfly garden of Gudrun Sperrer.
  • Interaction with the community Kukama, with traditional dance and local crafts.
  • Lunch and visit to the Museum of Indigenous Cultures of the Amazon, and the Museum of the Historic Boat.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3: Neighbourhood of Bethlehem and output to Nauta

  • Visit to the Neighborhood of Bethlehem, famous for its floating market and the life on the banks of the Itaya river.
  • Transfer to Nauta, boarding the boat Arapaima and welcome with tropical drinks.
  • Talk about the geography of the area, and observation of stars.
  • Navigation to the confluence of the rivers Marañón and Ucayali, the source of the Amazon.
  • Excursion to watch birds and mammals such as pink dolphins, and monkeys.
  • Dinner on board.

Day 4: Adventure in the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve

  • Navigation on the river Ucayali, and exploration of the communal reserve of rio Yarapa.
  • Walk through the forest flooded Varzea, and observation of flora and fauna.
  • Interaction with the community Kukama and purchases of local products.
  • Afternoon of exploration in open boats, observation of wild life and ecosystem of the forest floodplain.
  • Dinner on board.

Day 5: piranha Fishing, and exploration in the forest

  • Fishing for piranhas in an oxbow lake, with observation of birds and other wildlife.
  • Presentation of tropical fruits and its health benefits.
  • Lunch aboard the boat.
  • Afternoon of exploration in a protected forest by the Kukama, with sightings of frogs, reptiles and tarantulas.
  • Dinner on board.

Day 6: Back to Iquitos

  • Breakfast and disembarkation in the town of Nauta.
  • Transfer to the airport of Iquitos, with a stop at the Rescue Centre for Manatees "Amazon Forever Biopark", where they care for manatees and other endangered species.
  • Eventual transfer to the airport for the return flight.
